Retreat in Assisi

Tyler and I had the gift of spending two nights in Assisi before ending our trip in Italy. We took the train from Rome to Assisi and had an uneventful trip.

We made a stop in Foligno and had an hour to explore the town. Somehow we walked right to the Cathedral and enjoyed a little stop there before finishing our trip to Assisi.

We stayed at St. Anthony's Guest House which is run by the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement. They were wonderful hostesses and made us feel very welcome.

Sister said we had the best room in the place. We realized what she meant when we saw our view!

We enjoyed having a chapel in the guest house and every morning at 7:30 when breakfast started, a Sister would play the piano (which could be heard in every room of the guest house) until breakfast ended at 8:30am. It was a very pleasant way to wake up.

We had the blessing of being in Assisi with some fellow FOCUS missionaries. It was fun to hang out together in Assisi, but also was a blessing to travel together, especially when we left Assisi to go to a hotel near the Rome airport. Not knowing exactly where we were going or how to get there, it was good to travel with others!

Assisi is one of the most beautiful places we've ever visited. Here are some pictures that try to capture that beauty!

We enjoyed delicious food in Assisi. Many cappuccinos (it was really cold while we were there) and pasta, along with some good wine and cheese. We found this cute little place and enjoyed the warmth and delicious cheeses of Italy.
