Snapshots: A Week in the Life of John {37}

It seems like all the pictures of John look the same these past few weeks: he's smiling and either eating! Haha. He is quite the eater! And of course his smile never gets old. We've been enjoying beautiful weather lately and have been spending a lot of time at the park.

In the Words of James

We all had a blast watching James experience Christmas this year. He loved all the Christmas lights,  trees (still calls lights "Christ-tree") snowmen and other decorations that were up in our neighborhood. Because of the beautiful weather we went for many walks and James and Grandpa would talk the whole way about what they saw.
"Big Snoopy not up"
Walking like Grandpa
"Snowman hat on!"
One house in our neighborhood had an inflatable helicopter on their roof. This was a favorite right from the start! James would talk about this airplane from when he got up in the morning all the way until he went to bed. "Airplane not up. Airplane round round. Airplane not round round." At one point the helicopter did not work but at least they kept it inflated. It's been weeks since they took it down and we still talk about it daily!
Sometimes James will just sit down and say, "Me sit here one mimit" and he'll watch the world go by. It's a good lesson for us to slow down and enjoy the moment!
One of my favorite phrases was, "Hey! Another snowman!"
Our neighbor across the street, Officer Davis, put lights up and that was another favorite of James. James would look at the house in the morning and if the lights were not up he'd say, "Office Davis Christ-tree not on outside." Then he'd get his pretend phone and call Officer Davis and ask him to turn his lights on.
What wonderful memories!

Snapshots: A Week in the Life of John {36}

This past week was an adventure! Tyler went on a Notre Dame retreat in Tampa, FL and the boys and I were going to go visit family in Denver. On Sunday night before we were supposed to leave the next morning, John got a bad cut on his thumb. Thankfully he was okay but it changed our travel plans so the boys and I moved in with Grand Mommy and Grand Daddy while Tyler was away. John is such a trooper!

Christmas 2016

This Christmas was filled with blessings: staying at home (first time not traveling!); being with both sets of parents; John's first Christmas; and the joy of watching James filled with wonder and awe at so many things! Christmas lights, trees, snowmen, you name it!
My mom spent two months with us and dad joined us for the last few weeks. We enjoyed some great quality time!
James cutting Christmas paper with Grandma
James frosting sugar cookies
James decorated a cookie for daddy, can you tell which one it is?
We enjoyed putting up our Christmas decorations and as always James was right there to help.

Helping set up the tree
Putting his snowmen ornaments on the tree
We put lights on the tree to begin with and put our ornaments on the week before Christmas. Every once and a while we would walk by the tree and see different things...James found his own ornaments to put on the tree!
John loved the Christmas tree as well! He learned to crawl a few weeks before we took it down so it wasn't too much of a temptation for him to get into it.

Looking at Santa with Grand Daddy
We hosted Christmas Eve at our house. James and John enjoyed the first round of presents!

Christmas morning was an exceptionally warm Alabama winter day! After Mass we went to the Rossers for the day and enjoyed some delicious food and more presents.
We caught John happy...for all the other pictures he wasn't too sure about it

James was a little tired when we were opening presents so his enthusiasm wasn't too high but he got some help opening the gifts and was excited about his Paw Patrol toys!

Tired Guy
 John enjoyed the whole experience and was very excited about all the wrapping paper!

 It was such a gift to spend this Christmas with our families and make memories with our boys!
