Baptism Anniversary

We celebrated James' first anniversary of his Baptism. We read his Baptism picture book, lit his Baptismal candle, and gave him a few bites of chocolate ice cream! We love you James!

A Crazy Week

This past week was a crazy week. Tyler started his first week of teaching at Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School. He is teaching 11th grade Theology and a mixed age elective on Philosophy and Leadership Principles. He is loving it!
First day of school!
James is teething like crazy. A few more teeth coming in top and bottom, with a molar or two as well. We had a little treat of chocolate ice cream the other night and that was a hit!

Did I say he is teething? He's started throwing a few temper tantrums that consist of putting his head on the floor and crying. Or just yelling...he is making himself heard!
We've been counting down the days until my mom comes to visit...and she is here! James is enjoying Grandma time and we can't wait for Grandpa to come soon! Grandma taught James how to blow a kiss!
Love you!
We're excited for another crazy week ahead!

Favorite Things

Here are a few of James' current favorite things (with lots of videos so make sure you go to the blog on the website to watch them!)

Stairs.
Going up and coming down. It's so fun to watch him work so hard and also to see how in only a week he can go up and down with more confidence. Here's a video of him going up the stairs:

Grapes. A new favorite food, maybe? We give him a whole grape (I know...choking hazard) and he will bite it with his front teeth and then chew it. Adorable. Here's a video of him eating the grapes:

Tongue.
He loves to stick his tongue out, especially while exploring things. The best is when his tongue is out and he is making his different sounds.

Frannie. Whenever James sees Frannie he will talk to her in his high-pitched cooing voice. He will go up to her and pet her, pull himself up on her, or just sit next to her. Here is a video of James greeting Frannie when we picked her up from the animal hospital.

Me.

I have heard from many people that moms and sons have a special bond, and that is so true. I love to get James up after a nap because he'll cuddle on my shoulder for a minute or two. Sometimes when he is upset I'll pick him up and he'll just lean his head into my neck and stay there. Many times he'll just want me to hold him. Instead of wishing he would be okay just playing by himself for the moment...I need to treasure these times! We love you James!

Capturing Moments

In the past week we've captured two moments on video that I will always remember. The first is James dancing and the second is his new found ability to climb down the stairs!

Here is James dancing! Isn't he adorable?! He has found out how to make the music play by pushing the red dot on the foot so sometimes we'll just hear the music start to play!

Once James found that he could climb up the stairs we knew we needed to teach him how to climb down. It only took a few times of pulling his legs down while he was on his belly for him to figure out how to do it on his own. We don't let him climb the stairs without one of us present but this is definitely his new favorite activity!

Happy Birthday James!

Look who turned one year old! We had a fun celebration day with James on his birthday! We started out with birthday oatmeal and James even posed with his birthday hat!
Then James and I went to story time at the library where James loves to crawl about and give hugs to his friends (seriously, he'll go up to other children and lean in and give them a hug...so sweet!)
After story time we went to lunch at Chappy's with some friends. James got a little birthday ice cream and the children sang Happy Birthday to him!
The ice cream was a hit
The rest of the day was pretty chill...James took a good nap and then we played at home. He opened a birthday card from his Great-Grandparents, thank you!
The real celebration started when daddy brought home Mexican and Grand Mommy and Grand Daddy came for dinner.
Every birthday boy should be able to pick his favorite food for dinner...so we picked for James and the consensus was beans!

After dinner we got ready for the cake!
We couldn't wait to see what James would do. Would he stick both hands in and go for it? Would he not want to get messy? Would he put his face in it? Watch the video to find out!
He ended up just eating the frosting (he probably would have got to the cake eventually but we didn't want to give him too much sugar!) and looked like he was enjoying himself!
We love you so much James!
