Family trip to the Art Museum

We had a fun family trip to the art museum this past Wednesday. We met Tyler there after school and it was a gorgeous day outside. James enjoyed watching the geese by the pond and then we went into the children's play area inside. We finished up with a quick walk around the art museum, but James wasn't very impressed. So Tyler and I are planning a date there just the two of us soon!

Of course his favorite part was the computers. He had no idea what the game was but it didn't matter! He could click the mouse and sit there all by himself so he was a happy guy.

Trucks

James has a new love: trucks! Thanks to Aunt Ashley and Uncle Alex, who gave James some really cool trucks, James has discovered the world of "cars and trucks and things that go" (using the title of his new favorite book by Richard Scarry.)

We also got the book Busytown on the Go by Richard Scarry. This is a favorite at bedtime. If you were in our house at night, you'd hear something like this: "There goes Sweepy in his street sweeper while the garbage collector takes out the trash. Lucky little Winnie gets an ice cream from Almond's Ice Cream truck. Yup, there's the garbage truck. There's the ice cream truck. That's the garbage truck. Yup, that's still the garbage truck."

He gets caught up on that first page and his favorite truck of all is the yellow garbage truck. I think he'd point to that for an hour if we let him.

Our two new pastimes are to look for cars and trucks on walks and sit at the kitchen table and watch cars drive by. We live on a pretty quiet street so sadly that doesn't happen very often, haha. And after he sees a car, he'll rub his tummy for "more please" and get this really expectant look on his face. We assure him more will come...eventually!

It's so fun to see what James gets interested in. We wonder what will be next? But we are content at the moment with trucks!
